NLSC translates document for the Secretary of the Navy

Last summer, an NSLC member served as a Vietnamese language interpreter for the Secretary of the Navy during town hall meetings on the gulf coast relating to last summer’s oil spill.

The meetings were part of a project that resulted in a major report, America’s Gulf Coast: A Long Term Recovery Plan after the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill. Because of the communities affected by the spill, the Secretary’s staff also asked the NLSC to translate the report into Spanish and Vietnamese. NLSC members recently completed this follow-up project as well. For the Spanish report, one member translated the report and one reviewed the work. For the Vietnamese report, two members translated, with one member reviewing their work.
