Building a presence in Hawai'i

Hawai'i is an important location for the NLSC because of the presence of the United States Pacific Command (PACOM). The NLSC will be in Hawai'i in the next few weeks to meet with current members, recruit new local members and to build relationships with several areas of PACOM.

We will be hosting a member "Meet & Greet" in Honolulu on October 7, an opportunity for NLSC members to meet each other and get updates on NLSC activities.

We will be recruiting at the following locations during the first week of October:

• National Foreign Language Resource Center - University of Hawai'i
• University of Hawai'i Center for interpretation and translation Studies
• Windward Community College
• Office on Equality and Access to the Courts, Hawaii Interpreter Action Network
• University of Hawai'i Campus Center (sponsored by Korean Language Flagship)
• University Hawai'i Campus Center(sponsored by Korean Lang. Flagship)
• Kapi Olani Community College
• Honolulu Community College
• Leeward Community College

Regarding meeting with PACOM, we have the following scheduled between the first and 8th of October:

• Troop Command
• 29th Infantry Brigade Combat Team
• Joint Forces Headquarters and 18th Medical Command (MEDCOM)


• 298th Regiment
• US Army Pacific and PACOM representatives
