Potential Washington, DC-based assignment for Spanish and French speakers

The National Language Service Corps (NLSC) has received an inquiry from a federal agency that has a need for Spanish and French translators.  This potential assignment will require on-site translation of message traffic at a translation center from Spanish and French into English. This opportunity would require you to become a member of the NLSC. There is no membership fee to join the organization and all members of the NLSC are volunteers but are paid a stipend for any hours worked. This is not a full-time position, but rather an assignment that requires an individual with the skill set below.

Position Requirements:
  • 5+ years of professional translation experience from Spanish or French into English
  • Available to devote at least 40 hours of work each week
  • Willingness to commute to client offices in Washington, D.C.
  • Willingness to take a Spanish or French test administered by NLSC
  • Willingness to be federally hired
Experience translating business documents is preferable.  Again, if you meet the required qualifications listed above and are interested and available to assist as an NLSC language volunteer in the capacity of a Spanish translator, please apply as soon as possible.

To be accepted as an NLSC Member, you must be at least 18 years old and a U.S citizen.  To apply to join, click here and then click Apply.  When prompted for an EXP code, enter 12-02. Also, when prompted, upload your resume in Microsoft Word format

The on-line application process includes the option to upload your resume, please do so when you apply.   Also, if you know of someone with Spanish or French interpretation/translation skills who might be interested, we welcome your referrals.  Thank you.
