The
NLSC continues to manage its incoming volunteer membership as well as
facilitate the appointment of Members as federal employees to support language
and cultural demands of future clients.
NLSC’s membership and the number of federal hires have grown tremendously in the past six months. Since March 2012, the membership has increased 18% and now stands at 3800 Members claiming 252 different languages. Although all Members could be available for language support assignments, approximately 11% of the Members are already federally-appointed and could be available for an assignment on short notice. Those appointed claim 134 different languages. Since March 2012, there has been a 108% increase of those federally appointed and available to support client assignments. The number continues to grow rapidly.
